Alert about a possible water crisis

The increase in the number of inhabitants of the planet threatens the water supply. The world population, which by 1950 was 2,000 million, is currently estimated at 6,700 million and the projection for 2020 indicates that it will increase to 8,000 million.

Taking into account that water is an essential resource for life, this growing number of inhabitants will continue to demand it for different uses.

Of the water that exists on the planet, 97.24% is in the seas and oceans, that is, it is salty; 2.14% is contained in layers of ice and glaciers, while rivers, freshwater lakes and groundwater represent less than 1%.
